Kitty supervises four main programmes of work: fisheries, aquaculture, community health, and mangrove conservation. With seven years field experience in community-based conservation projects in the Western Indian Ocean region, she supports strategy development within each programme, ensuring that this drives LMMA development at our core sites. She also acts as a focal point connecting Blue Ventures’ programmes in Madagascar with the work we are undertaking globally with local partners.

Kitty studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, before running projects engaging people in nature and its conservation in the UK. She then spent four years based in Anjouan, in the Comoros, contributing to the creation and development of local NGO Dahari, while leading the development of community outreach programmes and tools. This led onto a role with project partner the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust within their Madagascar programme.

Kitty joined Blue Ventures in early 2014 to lead the Madagascar country programme. In late 2016, she moved back to her native UK to take up her current role based in Blue Ventures’ London headquarters.
