Onon works as the lead for sustainable enterprise at the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) in Mongolia. She has worked for WCS Mongolia since 2013, and is currently managing the Sustainable Cashmere Project, which is focused on the Gobi desert. Previously, Onon worked for the Zorig Foundation, where she initiated and led the Environmental Fellowship Program. This program has been running for eight years, and continues to spur environmental leadership among youth in Mongolia. More recently, she helped start the Rural Environmental Fellowship Program at the Zorig Foundation, which brings together young professionals from the 21 provinces in Mongolia.
Onon holds a Bachelor of Arts in environmental economics from Whitman College, and a Master of Environmental Management in environmental policy from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
