Andrea obtained her Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Management of Natural Resources in my homeland Ecuador. Her Master of Science (MSc) studies were held in Germany in Sustainable Forestry and Land Use Management.
Andrea has over twelve years of professional work experience. During her first five professional years she worked assisting several sustainable development and research projects in Ecuador, Germany and the Andean Region at a local NGO and an Environmental Business. She gained experience developing and implementing forestry, water and climate change projects in Latin America. Afterwards, she worked with two bilateral and one multilateral cooperation agencies: GIZ, USAID and UNREDD. She was part of the construction and beginning of the implementation of Ecuador’s National REDD+ (Reduction of Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) Strategy.
Subsequently, Andrea founded “Huella Verde”, an entrepreneurship to develop and implement sustainable solutions for the private sector. Huella Verde developed and implemented an innovative model to change the use of plastic disposable tableware in food courts. The model is successfully running in one first shopping mall and will be replicated in others soon, reducing enormously plastic garbage which cannot be recycled.
