Chicago, IL 60602-1708
United States of America

As Vice President of Conservation for Openlands, Emy manages the land protection, restoration, and stewardship programs for the organization and leading the formulation, coordination and accomplishment of conservation projects of significance across the region.  She also provides technical assistance on acquisition strategies to local governments, park districts, forest preserve districts and conservation districts, with an emphasis on buy-and-hold projects.  More recently her work has engaged the regional food system in an effort to advance access to land for local food farmers. Prior to joining Openlands in 2008, she worked in local government and in private legal practice, including managing transactions and projects in Colorado for Boulder County’s sales-tax-funded open space program.  Emy currently serves as President of the Prairie State Conservation Coalition, the statewide coalition of Illinois land trusts; and chairs the Sustainability Committee for the Cook County Land Bank Authority.
