Vena has worked in both conservation research and practice. Her early research was on rainforest restoration, studying spiders as an indicator species, and developing conservation education programs and material. She also has experience in management and helped the Nature Conservation Foundation in India coordinate its programs, streamline processes, raise additional funds, and improve the organization’s public engagement and visibility. In 2010, she was awarded the Ravi Sankaran Inlaks Fellowship to study for an M.Phil. in Conservation Leadership at the University of Cambridge, U.K. She joined the Cambridge Conservation Initiative to help improve the collaborative potential between conservation organizations, implement a new communications strategy, and investigated how conservation organizations around the world use geographical colocation to collaborate. She currently works as a Programme Associate with the Education and Public Engagement Programme at Nature Conservation Foundation in Bangalore, India.
